Who Is Earth Week?
The management of Earth Week consists of two main committees separate from the management of VOP: the Steering Committee and the Executive Committee.
The Steering Committee is the decision-making body for the Earth Week festival and functions in many ways like a Board of Directors. The Executive Committee consists of 3-4 officers from the Steering Committee who are responsible for the administration of the whole; it has the responsibility to authorize financial disbursements, form contractual relationships with other parties, and coordination of non-festival event opportunities, e.g., participating in the Film Festival or hosting a benefit concert, as they arise.
The Steering Committee has subcommittees which provide the event ideas, networking functions, creative input, and sweat equity required to put on the Earth Week festival. Each subcommittee has at least one Steering Committee member who is responsible for guiding that committee's work and reporting progress back to and receiving direction from the Steering Committee. These subcommittees are open to non-committee-member participation.
We are proud to show that we have a continuity of involvement from year to year. While our committee membership has grown, it has not displaced either its founders or its original vision. The subcommittees include working on publicity, event logistics, eco-fair tabling & booths, presentation & activity coordination, and entertainment, among other areas. If you would like to serve on a committee or subcommittee or volunteer to help out at a certain event, please use the contact page to get in touch with us.
