Charlottesville Earth Week consists of a board of directors that aid the Executive Director in decision making about planning the Earth Week Eco Fair. The previous Executive Director is also available to answer any questions and will provide an orientation to the event planning materials and feedback on past events.


This is a one year contract paid position with most of the hours worked between December and when the event takes place in April. So far over 2016 and 2017 the Executive Director has worked a total of 214 hours. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Contacting and securing event sponsors.

  2. Creating and managing an event budget.

  3. Managing the registration of event exhibitors and vendors including non-profits, retail and food.

  4. Coordinating all logistical aspects of the event including table/chair rental, creating an event layout map (maps from previous years are available), exhibitor instructions on layout, setup, parking, breakdown, and organizing volunteers.

  5. Managing registration payments and donations from exhibitors and sponsors.

  6. Radio interviews leading up to the event for publicity/marketing.

Depending on availability of board members and other volunteers that want to be a part of the planning process, the Executive Director may or may not also be responsible for the following:

  1. All aspects of marketing including social media management, email newsletter, and graphic design.

  2. Website updates and maintenance.

  3. Recruiting volunteers.

  4. Planning and executing other fundraising events/opportunities to raise money to cover costs of the Eco Fair event.
